Mobile Mobile Mobile
Did you know that AOL expanded Premium Formats to include smartphones and tablets last week? From Advertising Age to Media Post, Premium Formats for Mobile has advertisers everywhere talking. The beautiful, engaging, content-rich ad formats powered by the award-winning Pictela technology will now be available on mobile devices – the Devil ads can be customized to give online advertisements a TV-like emotional impact.
Project Devil for desktop launched just 18 months ago, and now over 150 advertisers have run campaigns. The expansion gives marketers the ability to serve the same brand content experience across multiple devices. Users are able to forge a deeper brand connection and engage on new levels with ad content – helping to create a better cross-platform experience.
Another Mobile win for the week – on June 27th AOL Advertising hosted the first-ever mobile advertising summit to discuss the challenges and opportunities brands and advertisers face in the mobile landscape. The summit also unveiled some great research insights. Did you know that 77% of mobile phone owners send text messages and 67% of them browse the web while watching TV? Today’s “couch potatoes” are more engaged than ever!
Speakers included Eric Ferguson of Nielsen and Mark Donovan of Comscore, who both discussed the challenges associated with mobile measurement. Calculating unique visitors on mobile devices is completely different than on desktop because of the fragmented landscape of apps, mobile sites and multiple devices.
Sal Candela, Director of Mobile at PHD, also spoke at the summit and discussed the issue of satiating mobile consumers with high expectations. One of the greatest challenges advertisers face is the fact that users want a seamless cross-platform experience that is simultaneously tailored to their device of choice.
So what’s an advertiser to do? Provide contextually relevant ad experiences that speak to both the content a user is consuming and where they’re consuming it.
If you weren’t able to attend our summit, be sure to download our Mobile study to pick up some great insights to convince your clients to “go mobile.”
