AOL had mobile covered at CES.

AOL Mobile Rocks CES

Mandar Shinde, Head of Mobile Monetization at AOL spoke on a Digital Hollywood panel at CES on the “Tablet-Smartphone Ecosystem.”  He was joined by other leading mobile insiders from creative agencies, start-ups and Google.  Despite the wide variety of mobile insights and strategy, the panel agreed to one thing – “a device strategy is old news.”  Everything today is connected and content and context remain more relevant than ever.  Especially in light of the plethora of devices at CES, Saatchi and Saatchi ECD, Alistair Green remarked “If we keep on chasing devices, we’re going to fail.”

The cross-device ecosystem approach endorsed by all is reflected in AOL’s 2013 Mobile strategy –from our commitment to responsive design to being a “human” company.  In fact, the favorite buzz phrase of the panel was “human first” (in place of mobile first).  Least favorite? The phablet.

Last but not least, AOL Mobile’s business development team hosted a VIP cocktail party for business partners and clients at the Hard Rock Hotel.  This low-key affair featured products by Nokia, branded champagne by Boku, and most popular of all – an acoustic set by Randi Zuckerberg’s band.
