Advertising for music, music videos, and musical events is acceptable, subject to the following specific placement and labeling guidelines:
- All advertising for recordings that carry the Parental Advisory label must communicate the presence of explicit content (in accordance with Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) standards). An advertisement must contain one of the following, at the first point of communication with the consumer:
- depiction of the Parental Advisory label graphic; or
- display of the exact wording of the Parental Advisory label.
- Advertising for recordings carrying a Parental Advisory label may only be placed in areas with appropriate context and audience composition.
Commerce partners shall adopt the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) voluntary standards for consumer sales of Parental Advisory labeled recordings, which includes prominently displaying the Parental Advisory label when a consumer is searching or reviewing recordings that carry the label.
