Advertising policies


The Policies contained herein are amended periodically and are not a substitute for consulting with the Ad Policy team.    

For purposes of these Policies:

  • “AOL Properties” refers to AOL-owned sites, including but not limited to mobile sites, AOL ONE, MapQuest, Moviefone, The Huffington Post, TechCrunch, Engadget, etc. “” includes all advertising and publisher networks, including affiliate, contextual, behavioral, rich media, video, mobile, search, widget and custom solutions.
  • “AOL” refers to AOL Inc., AOL Advertising Inc., AOL ONE and applicable AOL affiliates and subsidiaries, including all international properties. “AOL” also refers to all organizations for which AOL handles advertising sales, including Verizon and Microsoft organizations.
  • Where an organization for which AOL handles advertising sales has an advertising policy that differs from AOL’s, we have attempted to note that herein.  For the most up-to-date information on requirements applicable to Microsoft properties please review the Microsoft Creative Acceptance Policy. In case of conflicts or omissions between this document and the Microsoft Creative Acceptance Policy, the latter will govern.

All creatives, advertisements and other material provided under these policies must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.  While AOL requires its advertisers to comply with these standards, the content of the advertisements is the advertiser’s responsibility, and by placing the advertisements, the advertiser assumes all liability for and arising from the advertisement.  AOL will not be responsible for ensuring compliance with such regulations or guidance, although advertisers may be required to submit documentation from an attorney affirming such compliance.

AOL reserves the right to modify these Policies at any time without prior notice.

AOL reserves the right at any time, in its sole discretion, to revoke its approval of, and to require the elimination or revision of, any advertisement or campaign.
